New E-Newsletter Helps Caregivers To Learn, Relate, and Connect
Medical notification company Intelecare and caregiver resource Caring Today join forces to publish monthly e-newsletter "Caregivers' Corner" addressing the needs of family caregivers
New Haven, CT - August 27, 2008 - According to the National Family Caregivers Association, there are over 50 million family caregivers who provide over $306 billion in service each year to their chronically ill, disabled, or aged friends and family members. Seventeen percent of these caregivers spend 40 hours or more a week looking after their loved ones.
Realizing the ever-increasing need for family caregiver support, medical notification and communication company Intelecare, together with Caring Today magazine, will publish a monthly e-newsletter written for and about the people who give up so much to help others. The first issue of "Caregivers' Corner" will publish in August and contain tips, articles, statistics, resources, and advice for those struggling to care for those who need them. Focusing not only on how to best care for others, but also on how caregivers need to care for themselves, the newsletter strives comfort, inform, and ultimately lend a helping hand to caregivers across the country.
By leveraging Intelecare's notification system, caregivers can set up reminders for those in their care for delivery by email, text message, or automated voice messages. These reminders can be to take their medication, refill their prescription, keep scheduled doctor's appointments or check their vital statistics. Intelecare is customizable - allowing the caregiver to enter personal messages and select the time, frequency, and delivery method of the reminder. The service is free to those who register.
"I recently gained firsthand experience into how much caregivers sacrifice as I watched multiple members of my family join to care for my grandmother who recently passed," said Kevin Aniskovich, founder and Chief Executive of Intelecare. "Being in the medical adherence industry, I often see family caregivers spread thin between their children, their careers, and the people for whom they provide care. While Intelecare helps caregivers make certain that their loved ones remember their medical responsibilities, the education of caregivers was being underserved. This newsletter series is the first step toward supporting bridging that gap."
Caring Today is a magazine and online resource dedicated to providing support, information, news, and advice to caregivers across the country. Its bimonthly national print publication has a circulation of 750,000, while its companion website provides information that both helps caregivers take care of their loved ones and remember their own needs.
"Our mission at Caring Today is to provide family caregivers with practical advice and solutions to the challenges they face every day," said Victor Imbimbo, President and CEO of Caring Today. "We are all too familiar with the caregiver's life and how stressful it can be. This newsletter is a wonderful opportunity to reach a new audience and give them the ability to be effective caregivers, practice self-care, and successfully seek outside resources."
The first issue of "Caregivers' Corner" will be emailed to Intelecare subscribers in August and contains information on low-cost and free caregiver resources, advice on how to communicate with elders in your care, and tips on keeping meals with your loved one(s) smooth and successful. Those interested in receiving the newsletter may register at www.intelecare.com and select the Family Caregiver area of interest.
