Remembering To Take Your Medicine Just Got Easier
Medical adherence reminder company Intelecare is offering the next one million new users instant upgrade to voice, mobile phone, and email reminder services at no charge in order to help people across the Country take their medicine on time
New Haven, CT - June 18, 2008 - Although scientists are developing new and innovative drugs treatments each day, one out of two Americans will not benefit from these medical advances even if they are prescribed the medicine. The reason is medical non-compliance - when patients do not take or refill their medications as instructed. This seemingly minor problem negatively impacts the healthcare system to the tune of $300 billion annually, with $47 billion in hospitalizations directly attributable to medication non-compliance. Medical non-compliance is also linked to an array of preventable health issues and complications.
While other factors play a role, a staggering 84 percent of those polled who did not take their medicine correctly or regularly were simply forgetful about what to take and when. This number has increased nearly 20% from just two years ago.
In an effort to promote medical adherence, Intelecare Compliance Solutions develops and manages personal notification and communication systems to help patients remember to look after their health. After an initial registration process, users are able to create comprehensive and personalized reminders for themselves or for those they are caring for. These reminders can be sent received via phone, text message, or email, depending on which mode of communication works best for the individual user.
While the IntelecareBASIC service package is free to users who require only email reminders, the premium IntelecarePLUS enrollment offers unlimited email, voice and text message reminders - normally a $5 per month program. However, Intelecare is offering the next one million registrants free lifetime upgrades to IntelecarePLUS.
"Intelecare doesn't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach," explained Kevin Aniskovich, founder and CEO of Intelecare. "Each patient has individual needs and requires a solution that can be customized to ensure long-term positive behavioral changes. Our guiding principal at Intelecare is simple: we strive for our products and services to work the way that people live. We beleive in this as an organic process to maximize universal adoption."
By offering IntelecarePLUS free of charge, the Company hopes to both increase medical compliance awareness and also to ensure that medical reminders are easily available to those who need it most.
"Being a good corporate citizen takes on a whole new meaning for internet-based services," said Aniskovich. "While we are already provide our reminder services to non-profits on a pro bono basis, we also wanted to reach out on an individual level to those who could benefit from an adherence program but who might not be otherwise able to afford our premium service."
